¶ 1 Generally, "warrantless searches and seizures are per se unreasonable."1 Consent is among the few "`jealously and carefully drawn exceptions' to the warrant requirement. . . ."2 To prove a consensual search, the State must show that (1) the consent was voluntary, (2) the person granting consent had authority to consent, and (3) the search did not exceed the scope of the consent.
