We have consolidated the following two cases on appeal: State v. Skarzynski, 2008AP723, a paternity action instituted by the State of Wisconsin against Christopher L. Skarzynski, and Hendrick v. Hendrick, 2008AP722, an action started by Jennifer Hendrick seeking a divorce from Garry M. Hendrick.1 For ease of analysis, we address the two appeals separately, discussing the appeal in — 723 first.
