Plaintiff Kathy1 Rodríguez-Vives sued the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in 2005, claiming that defendant Puerto Rico Firefighters Corps of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico ("the Corps") refused to hire her as a firefighter because of her gender. As part of a 2009 settlement of that suit, the Corps agreed to employ her as a "transitory" firefighter until the next training academy was held, to admit her to the academy...
