Robert Kyle (Kyle) was 48 years old when he was terminated from his position as a supervisor for laminent manufacturer Formica Corporation on March 31, 2003. At the time of his termination, Kyle suffered from morbid obesity and related conditions. He filed an application for Social Security disability benefits ten months later on January 20, 2004.
