CARNES, Circuit Judge:

Curtis Darnell Johnson was convicted of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g). He was sentenced under 18 U.S.C. § 924(e), the Armed Career Criminal Act (ACCA), because he had three earlier convictions that the district court determined to be for violent felonies. One of them was for battery in Florida, which would have been a misdemeanor had it not been elevated to felony status under state...
