The central issue in this case is whether defendant Travelers Casualty and Surety Company (Travelers) had a duty to defend its insured, plaintiff SBC Holdings, Inc. (SBC), in an underlying suit against SBC alleging racial discrimination. In 1987, City and Suburban Distributors (C & S) sued the Stroh Brewery Co.
