Ralph Edward Wilkins was tried before a jury in the Circuit Court for Prince George's County on December 6 through 8, 1971, and convicted of murder in the first degree. On January 24, 1972, he was sentenced to life imprisonment. On direct appeal to the Court of Special Appeals, that court affirmed the judgment and sentence. Wilkins v.
