This case presents an issue of statutory interpretation: whether G. L. c. 214, § 1C, which states that "[a] person shall have the right to be free from sexual harassment, as defined in" G. L. c. 151B and c. 151C, applies to volunteers. The plaintiff, a volunteer, brought an action alleging sexual harassment by a former coworker. A judge in the Superior Court granted summary judgment for the defendant because the alleged conduct did not occur in an employment...
