We granted leave to consider defendant's claim that he was denied the effective assistance of trial counsel. The trial court, acting as trier of fact, found defendant guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, M.C.L. § 750.520b; MSA 28.788(2), and sentenced him to a five to fifteen year term of imprisonment.
