The appellant, Jay Bradford, was indicted on June 25, 1997, by the Talladega County grand jury for the attempted murder of Mike Smith. Ala. Code 1975, §§ 13A-6-2 and 13A-4-2. At arraignment, the appellant pleaded not guilty; he was subsequently found guilty by a jury.
