By a superseding indictment, William Twitty was charged with four others with conspiring to violate federal firearms laws by unlawfully purchasing, possessing and selling handguns. 18 U.S.C. § 371. Twitty was also named in two other counts: one for unlawfully dealing in firearms, id. § 922(a)(1)(A), and the other for unlawfully possessing handguns with obliterated serial numbers,
