This ERISA appeal had its genesis in default judgments originally entered by the district court in favor of the plaintiffs, the Manufacturers' Industrial Relations Association and the MIRA-GMP Allied Workers' Pension Trust (collectively "MIRA"), under the Multiemployer Pension Plan Amendments Act of 1980 ("the MPPAA"), 29 U.S.C. §§ 1381 et seq....
