This is a suit for damages under the RICO statute. 18 U.S.C. §§ 1961 et seq. The plaintiff, Verna Emery, charges the defendant, American General Finance, a maker of small loans, with engaging in the practice of "loan flipping," a practice that the plaintiff claims is "racketeering activity" within the meaning of RICO....
