Appellants, Patrick DeVille and Jimmy Vidrine, appeal the dismissal of their habeas petition. Appellants contend that their pleas of guilt to second degree murder are invalid because (1) they lacked the mental capacity to plead; (2) they were not informed of the elements of second degree murder; (3) their attorneys coerced them into pleading; and (4) they were denied the effective assistance of counsel.
