CHAVEZ, Judge.

Defendant appeals his conviction for aggravated battery (great bodily harm). NMSA 1978, § 30-3-5 (Repl.Pamp. 1984). The conviction resulted from a fight in which the victim received serious head injuries and subsequently died. Although investigated as a homicide, the murder charge was dropped after the medical evidence indicated that the cause of the victim's death may have related to subsequent medical treatment.
