On April 10, 1989, plaintiff Jimmie Lee Spires brought suit in the circuit court of Edgar County against defendant Mooney Motors, Inc. He sought damages for injuries he received when, with defendant's permission, he was using defendant's tirechanging machine to place a tire on a rim of a vehicle belonging to him.
