The issues presented in this action arise from a twenty-nine day strike in 1985 by defendant Air Line Pilots Association, International ("ALPA" or "the union") against defendant United Airlines, Inc. ("United"). Plaintiffs are 103 pilots who were hired by United to replace striking pilots.
