COVELLO, J.

The plaintiff, James G. Malerba, brought an action against the defendant, Cessna Aircraft Company (Cessna), seeking damages for personal injuries sustained in an airplane accident. The complaint contained three counts, each alleging a separate theory of recovery: (1) negligence; (2) strict product liability; and (3) breach of warranty. Cessna filed a motion for permission to serve a third party complaint pursuant to Practice Book § 117.
