This case arises out of a motor vehicle collision on October 7, 1981 in Simpson County, Kentucky. The appellee, Shelby Jean Coleman, was a passenger in a Volkswagon van owned and operated by her husband which was struck from the rear by another vehicle owned by appellant Wemyss and being driven by appellant Griffin.
