There lies at the core of the case the question whether a stock option which is part of an employment agreement is exempt from a Statute of Frauds, i.e., the requirement of G.L.c. 106, § 8-319, as inserted by St. 1957, c. 765, § 1, that "[a] contract for the sale of securities is not enforceable ... unless: (a) there is some writing signed by the party against whom enforcement is sought...."
