This case arises out of the financial demise of plaintiff Seattle Totems, a hockey team of which plaintiffs Vincent H.D. Abbey and Eldred W. Barnes were principal officers, directors and shareholders. The Totems and Abbey and Barnes brought an antitrust action against the defendant National Hockey League (NHL) and some of its members.
