The defendant was tried to the jury on charges of burglary in the second degree, sexual assault in the first degree with a deadly weapon and larceny in the first degree. The charges arose out of the unauthorized entry into a home in Hamden on July 4, 1980, the sexual assault of the occupant, and the subsequent removal of personal property belonging to the owner.
