After a jury trial in November, 1983, the defendant was found not responsible for the crimes charged against him by reason of mental disease or defect. Shortly thereafter, this court signed an order pursuant to CPL 330.20 requiring that the defendant submit to a psychiatric examination. The purpose of such an examination is to determine whether the defendant had a dangerous mental disorder or is mentally ill.1
