A.L. Lockhart, Director of the Arkansas Department of Correction, appeals from the District Court's order granting the petition of Otis Darnell Thomas for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254.1 We agree with the District Court that Thomas did not receive effective assistance of counsel; consequently he did not make a voluntary, knowing, and intelligent guilty plea.
