Defendant appeals his conviction for first degree assault.

On September 3, 1979, at about 11:30 p.m., the victim was walking north in the 9300 block of Aurora Avenue North in Seattle. She was struck and grabbed from behind, thrown to the ground and choked into unconsciousness. Her assailant started to drag or carry her from the scene.
