In July, 1974, the Washoe County Grand Jury commenced an investigation which focused upon a matter commonly referred to as the Conforte Land Transaction wherein northern Nevada brothel owner and appellant herein, Joseph Conforte, had purchased for development several hundred acres of ranch land located in the City of Sparks.
