Defendant was charged in count I (violation of section 23101 of the Vehicle Code) of driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor in an unlawful manner and proximately causing bodily injury. In count II, defendant was charged with a violation of section 20001 of the Vehicle Code, hit and run. Defendant pled not guilty to both counts.
