William Bentvena and his eight co-appellants are among 19 defendants now on trial in the Southern District of New York on charges of violating the narcotics laws, 21 U.S.C.A. §§ 173 and 174, and conspiracy so to do, 18 U.S.C. § 371. The nine defendants whose petitions we here consider had been enlarged on bail until Judge Levet remanded them to custody on January 30, 1961.1 They then
