GOLDEN, Justice.

[¶ 1] A jury found Appellant Henry R. Sanchez guilty of attempted second degree murder, aggravated assault and battery, felony possession of a controlled substance, and interference with an emergency call. Sanchez later sought a new trial, which the district court denied. Sanchez appealed both the judgment and sentence and the denial of his new trial motion, and we consolidated those appeals.
