The appellant, Edward C. Grimes, was found guilty by a jury in the Circuit Court of Berkeley County, West Virginia, of murder of the second degree. The appellant shot and killed the victim, Ronald L. Kidrick, with a handgun in a motel parking lot on July 30, 2005.
