ELDER, Judge.

Ronnie Lee Howard (appellant) appeals from his bench trial convictions for breaking and entering and credit card theft. On appeal, he contends the convictions violated his speedy trial rights under Code § 19.2-243 and the United States and Virginia Constitutions. He challenges both a continuance granted on the court's motion and a continuance granted because of the Commonwealth's alleged failure to provide court-ordered discovery
