VOROS, Judge:

¶ 1 This case arises from a fight at the Utah State Prison. Uncontroverted evidence at trial established that Defendant Nathan Redcap, an inmate, stabbed an inmate named Wilson. Redcap had surreptitiously remained out of his cell after he should have returned to it. He shielded his torso with body armor improvised from magazines and attached a shank to each hand.1 Redcap was charged with attempted murder...
