Appellees, Eduardo A. Garza and Uni-Trade Forwarding, L.C. ("Uni-Trade") (collectively, "the plaintiffs") filed a defamation action against appellants, Dr. Hector Farias and Voices in Democratic Action ("VIDA") (collectively, "the defendants").2 The defendants each filed a motion to dismiss pursuant to the Texas Citizens' Participation Act ("the Act").3
