This is an appeal of a summary judgment granted in a legal-malpractice case. The client sued his former lawyer, alleging the lawyer was negligent in the preparation and filing of the client's bankruptcy petition. The trustee of the bankruptcy estate obtained a settlement of all claims for alleged conduct occurring before filing the bankruptcy petition. The client amended his petition to base his negligence claim only...
