JOHNSON, J., delivered the opinion for a unanimous Court.
In 1990, appellant stabbed his father. The state prosecuted him for attempted murder, a second-degree felony, which is punishable by a term of imprisonment ranging from two to twenty years. The state also alleged two prior felony convictions as enhancements, which would permit, upon conviction and a finding that the enhancements were true, a term of imprisonment
