Appellant, Salvador Rodriguez, was indicted with one count of murder, a first-degree felony. See TEX. PENAL CODE ANN. § 19.02(b)(1), (c) (Vernon 2003). A jury convicted Rodriguez of the lesser-included offense of voluntary manslaughter and sentenced him to twenty years' confinement in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and assessed...
