This mandamus proceeding arises out of a child-custody dispute between the child's father and maternal grandmother. After the child's mother passed away, his grandmother filed a petition requesting that she be appointed sole managing conservator. The father moved to dismiss the suit, contending that the grandmother lacked standing. The trial court denied the motion to dismiss, and entered temporary orders naming the father...
