After a jury convicted Richard P. Anderson of first-degree burglary, the trial judge sentenced him to twenty years in prison. Anderson appealed his conviction and sentence to the Court of Appeals. In his appeal, Anderson argued the trial judge erred in admitting into evidence an unauthenticated ten-print card as maintained in the "Automated Fingerprint Identification System" (AFIS).
