A young child was severely injured when a riding lawnmower driven by her father backed into her. Plaintiff, the child's conservator, brought this product liability action against the lawnmower's manufacturer, Deere and Company, and the company that sold the girl's father the lawnmower, Ramsey-Waite Company.
