OPINION

HALL, J.

{¶ 1} This matter comes before the court on two consolidated appeals filed by Sherman Edmonds. In Montgomery App. No. 24155, Edmonds appeals from his conviction and sentence in Kettering Municipal Court on one count of first-degree misdemeanor petty theft. In Montgomery App. No. 24156, he appeals from his conviction and sentence in the same court on one count of criminal damaging, a second-degree misdemeanor.
