{¶ 1} In August 2007, defendant-appellant, John Gilbert, was convicted, after a jury trial, of one count of murder and two counts of aggravated robbery, all with firearm specifications. The convictions exposed Gilbert to a sentence of 18 years to life on the murder charge and three to 10 years on the aggravated robbery charges, i.e., a minimum of 18 years to life in prison, and a maximum...
