Petitioner was convicted of attempted murder in the second degree and, in October 2009, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of postrelease supervision. He was subsequently transferred to the custody of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (hereinafter DOCCS) and his maximum expiration date was set as July 19, 2018.
