Plaintiff commenced this action seeking to recover possession of a black Labrador retriever named "Earthsea, the Duke of Dunnsville" or "Duke" for short. The parties were involved in a non-marital relationship for over 15 years and lived together at 290 Settles Hill Road, Altamont, New York, between February 6, 2009 and March 22, 2013, when defendant moved out.
