At approximately 6:20 A.M. on May 15, 2002, the plaintiff was driving in the Manhattan-bound left HOV lane on the Gowanus Expressway, approaching the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, when her vehicle allegedly was struck by road debris identified as a brake shoe.
