Plaintiff's decedent sustained severe head trauma in a motor vehicle accident. She was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries and came under the care of Kraig Moore, M.D., the chief resident of neurosurgery, who diagnosed massive brain herniation. Dr. Moore conferred with Dr. Rawanduzy, the attending neurosurgeon on call, and a decision was made against surgical intervention.
