On September 11, 2001 and the days that followed, claimant—a civil employee of the New York City Fire Department—was charged with cleaning and repairing fire trucks that had responded to the scene of the terrorist attacks that had occurred at the World Trade Center. In February 2002, claimant received medical treatment for bronchitis. As his condition deteriorated, he was ultimately diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux, reactive airway...
