Following an altercation between defendant and his wife (hereinafter the victim) in her apartment, she sat down at her computer. Shortly thereafter, a shot was fired from behind her that shattered the computer monitor. The police investigation revealed that defendant had been in the apartment at the time, but immediately left and took a taxi to his paramour's home. From the paramour, police learned that defendant had placed a handgun in a lockbox at her home...
