In 2001, petitioner was convicted of the crimes of rape in the second degree and rape in the third degree and was sentenced, respectively, to consecutive prison terms of 21/3 to 7 years and 1 to 3 years. In October 2007, he was released to parole supervision. He was subject to a number of conditions as part of his release, including that he obey the instructions of his parole officer.
