Petitioner, who was a correction officer for more than 20 years, applied for performance of duty disability retirement benefits in 2001 after undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery. He alleged that he was permanently disabled by coronary artery disease caused by the stress of his employment responsibilities, which included dealing with inmate riots, threats and attacks, a "contract being placed on [his] life" by inmates, and administrative pressures....
