The testimony at the trial of this medical malpractice action established the following relevant facts. Plaintiff's gynecologist referred her to defendant, a rheumatologist, after she began to experience pain in her joints. During her first visit to defendant in October 2000, he administered certain diagnostic tests. One of those tests yielded a false positive result for syphilis, and another showed the presence of an antinuclear antibody. Those two results were significant...
